Happy New Year!

Here’s wishing a fun holiday for everyone!  We have plans for New Year’s Day with Holden’s fabulous girlfriend Ella.  We’re having a chill New Year’s Day meal of chili and cornbread with Ella and her family.  We are really looking forward to it!  On Friday Holden and I have a playdate in Montpelier with Holden’s friends Eva and Chester.

What is everyone up to for New Year’s?  Any fun plans?  I was just thinking about last New Year’s Eve and how we were just starting to tell our friends about our impending baby.  Here I am last New Year’s Eve at just about 17 weeks pregnant.  I wish I was that skinny now!

I’m also realizing that our tree has gotten a lot taller!!!  It must at least be in the 50th percentile for height at this point, and despite its head start, is no match for our mighty Holden, who could possibly be the tallest Friesel in generations.

Happy New Year!

RE: Child-less friends not understanding.

Laura and I are dealing with this now. A friend of ours has decided that we do not “make time for our friends”. They also suggested the “just get a babysitter” option for hanging out with friends. Austin is 9 months old. We cannot just have the local babysitter’s club watch him. We are very fortunate that my mom is only a half hour away and can babysit. However, as is the case this evening, she is not always available and we do not want to abuse the privilege.

We too were initially angry about the situation. Over the last few weeks though, I think we have realized that this is one of the times in life when you find out who your true friends are. The individual in question is really the only person to come out and have a problem with our new responsibilities. I can honestly say, everyone else has been extremely supportive. Most of our friends invite Austin to all gatherings. At the very least, they have not tried to pressure us into just dropping our baby off with grandma so we can go party.
